VitusCare, a leading kidney care provider, has taken significant steps to promote gender equality in healthcare. By employing more female technicians at their dialysis centers, the company aims to create a more welcoming environment for female patients and empower women in the community. This initiative has resulted in an increase in female patient visits and has fostered a more supportive work environment for female technicians. VitusCare’s commitment to gender equality aligns with their broader mission of delivering high-quality, accessible dialysis services to underserved regions in India.
Equal Access, Equal Care: How VitusCare is executing gender equality in healthcare
On the occasion of Women’s Equality Day , the organization has revealed practices and approaches which encourage female technicians to associate with the Company, in turn encouraging women patients to undergo regular dialysis with VitusCare
28th August, 2024:- As the world commemorates Women’s Equality Day, VitusCare reaffirms its commitment to inclusivity and gender equality in healthcare. The company has introduced initiatives which empower female employees and ensure comfortable and accessible healthcare for women.
As a business, VitusCare is dedicated to delivering world-class dialysis services to every corner of our country, particularly in underserved Tier 2, 3, and rural areas where access remains limited. In these regions, women face even greater hurdles in receiving regular care. Despite significant government efforts to make treatment affordable and our initiatives to enhance access, women often hesitate to seek regular dialysis due to the predominantly male technician staff.
To bridge this gap, VitusCare makes special efforts to station female technicians at their dialysis centers wherever possible. This initiative not only fosters a more welcoming environment for female patients but also empowers women in the community by providing them with valuable employment opportunities as caregivers. This policy fosters a comfortable environment for female patients, also ensures lesser travel for both the healthcare professional and the patients as they get mapped to a dialysis center in their vicinity. Through these efforts, VitusCare is making an impact on women’s healthcare in Bharat and championing gender equality.”
This initiative has also resulted in a noticeable increase in female patient visits, with a few centers now reporting an equal number of male and female patients coming in for dialysis.
Asha Singh, a dialysis patient from Kanpur mentions, “I used to avoid going for my dialysis sessions regularly because the travel was exhausting, and I felt uncomfortable with male technicians. Since VitusCare opened a centre closer to my home with female technicians, I have felt much more at ease. This has made it easier for me to attend my dialysis sessions regularly and take better care of my health.”
Priyanka Yadav, a female technician at a VitusCare centre in UP says, “Working with VitusCare has been a rewarding experience. Being part of a team that prioritizes female technician availability at centres has allowed me to connect with patients on a personal level. It’s fulfilling to see how our efforts make a real difference in female patients’ lives thanks to a supportive work environment.”
Prabhat Shrivastava, Founder & CEO of VitusCare adds, “By bringing our services closer to communities, we aim to create local employment opportunities for women in the medical field, which is crucial for long-term change in the healthcare sector. Additionally, our female technicians play a vital role in making women patients feel at ease during their visits. This improves the overall patient experience and encourages more women to seek regular dialysis without hesitation”
VitusCare, founded in 2017, is a pioneering kidney care startup dedicated to transforming dialysis services across India. With a mission to deliver high-quality, patient-centric care, VitusCare focuses on reaching underserved regions, where access to dialysis is often limited. By emphasizing affordability and accessibility, VitusCare is closing the gap in quality dialysis services for individuals with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). As a rapidly growing player in the healthcare industry, VitusCare is expanding its presence in North and Central India, currently operating over 50 centers to bring essential dialysis care closer to those in need.
