प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने कोलकाता में भारत की पहली अंडरवॉटर मेट्रो रूट और ₹15,400 करोड़ के परियोजनाओं का अनावरण किया
प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने 6 मार्च को महत्वपूर्ण यात्रा की शुरुआत की, जिसमें उन्होंने कोलकाता में ₹15,400 करोड़ की विभिन्न परियोजनाओं का उद्घाटन और शिलान्यास किया। यह उनके 10-दिने के दौरे का हिस्सा है जो 12 राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों में हो रहा है। यह उनका पांच दिनों के भीतर वेस्ट बंगाल की दूसरी यात्रा है।
पीएम मोदी द्वारा कोलकाता मेट्रो के ईस्ट-वेस्ट कॉरिडोर के हावड़ा मैदान-एस्प्लेनेड खंड का उद्घाटन किया गया, जिससे भारत ने अंडरवॉटर मेट्रो सेवाओं में पहला कदम उठाया है। एक आधिकारिक रिलीज़ के अनुसार, ईस्ट-वेस्ट मेट्रो का यह 4.8 किलोमीटर लंबा हिस्सा ₹4,965 करोड़ की लागत से बनाया गया है और इसमें भारत का सबसे गहरा मेट्रो स्टेशन होगा, जो हावड़ा में भूमि के स्तर से 30 मीटर नीचे होगा। यह कॉरिडोर कुंजीय क्षेत्रों को जोड़ने में मदद करेगा, जैसे कि आईटी हब शॉल्क विभाग।
हालांकि हावड़ा मैदान-एस्प्लेनेड खंड का उद्घाटन आज हुआ है, सार्वजनिक सेवाएं बाद में शुरू होंगी, केंद्रीय रेलवे के अनुसार। इसमें सहारा देने के लिए ईस्ट-वेस्ट मेट्रो को महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाने की उम्मीद है।
पीएम मोदी ने अन्य ट्रेन सेवाएं भी शुरू कीं, जो शहरी चलन को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए मुख्य ध्यान पर हैं। इनमें शामिल हैं – कवि सुभाष-हेमंत मुखोपाध्याय और तारातला-माजरहट मेट्रो खंड। इसके अलावा, पीएम मोदी ने देश को समर्पित किया पुणे मेट्रो (रूबी हॉल क्लिनिक से रामवाड़ी तक) ; कोची मेट्रो रेल फेज I एक्सटेंशन परियोजना (फेज IB) (एसएन जंक्शन मेट्रो स्टेशन से त्रिपुनिथुरा मेट्रो स्टेशन तक) ; आगरा मेट्रो का टाज ईस्ट गेट से मंकामेश्वर तक ; और दिल्ली-मेरठ आरआरटीएस कॉरिडोर के दुहाई-मोदीनगर (नॉर्थ) खंड को।
दोपहर में, पीएम मोदी का उम्मीद है कि वह पश्चिम बंगाल के नॉर्थ 24 परगना जिले के बारासत में एक जनसभा को संबोधित करेंगे, जहां सैंडेशखाली शामिल है।
पीएम मोदी की पिछली यात्रा बंगाल में
पिछले हफ्ते, पीएम मोदी ने पश्चिम बंगाल की यात्रा की थी जहां उन्होंने हुगली के आरामबाग़ और नदिया के कृष्णनगर में दो रैलियां कीं। अपने भाषणों में, उन्होंने ममता बनर्जी द्वारा चलाई गई तृणमूल कांग्रेस (टीएमसी) सरकार पर “महिलाओं पर अत्याचार” के बारे में कड़ा रुख किया, कहते हैं कि “पूरा देश इस मुद्दे पर गुस्सा कर रहा है”। उन्होंने लोगों से आग्रह किया कि वे आगामी लोकसभा चुनाव में टीएमसी की हार सुनिश्चित करें।
राज भवन में ममता बनर्जी के साथ मिलने के एक शानदार कदम के रूप में, मोदी ने डिप्लोमेटिक संकेत किया, जिसे मुख्यमंत्री ने पैम्पलेट के अनुसार “शिष्टाचारी मुलाकात” कहा था।

PM Modi Unveils India’s First Underwater Metro Route and Projects Worth ₹15,400 Crore in Kolkata
Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a significant visit to Kolkata on March 6, inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for projects totaling ₹15,400 crore. This visit marks his second within five days to West Bengal as part of his 10-day tour across 12 states and union territories.
One of the notable projects inaugurated by PM Modi is the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade section of Kolkata Metro’s East-West corridor, which introduces India’s maiden underwater metro services. The 4.8-km stretch, constructed at a cost of ₹4,965 crore, boasts the deepest Metro station in India at Howrah, situated 30 meters below ground level. This corridor aims to connect vital areas, including the IT hub Salt Lake Sector V.
While the inauguration ceremony for the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade section took place, passenger services are set to commence on a later date, according to Central Railways. The East-West Metro is expected to play a crucial role in facilitating urban mobility, particularly in connecting key regions.
PM Modi also flagged off additional train services, focusing on improving urban mobility. These include the Kavi Subhash-Hemanta Mukhopadhyay and Taratala-Majerhat Metro sections. Beyond Kolkata, the Prime Minister dedicated several other projects to the nation during his visit. These include the Pune Metro stretch from Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi, Kochi Metro Rail Phase I Extension from SN Junction Metro station to Tripunithura Metro station, Agra Metro’s Taj East Gate to Mankameshwar stretch, and the Duhai-Modinagar (North) section of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor.
In the afternoon, PM Modi is scheduled to address a public rally at Barasat in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, including Sandeshkhali. This visit follows his recent trip to the state, where he addressed rallies in Hooghly’s Arambagh and Nadia’s Krishnanagar. During those addresses, he criticized the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government for alleged “atrocities on women” in Sandeshkhali, calling on the people to ensure TMC’s defeat in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
In a diplomatic gesture, PM Modi also met Mamata Banerjee at Raj Bhavan in Kolkata, characterized by the Chief Minister as a “courtesy meeting” following protocol. The visit showcases the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and connectivity, aligning with the broader vision of enhancing urban mobility and fostering economic growth.
